New Sai Ya has successfully developed a novel coronavirus antibody test kit, which can produce results in 3 minutes with an accuracy rate of up to 95%.

Southwest University, in collaboration with Chongqing Xinsaiya Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Xinsaiya) and the Public Health Hospital Affiliated to Southwest University (Chongqing Public Health Medical Treatment Center, hereinafter referred to as the Public Health Hospital), has successfully developed a novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) IgM/IgG antibody detection kit. Professor Hu Changhua of the School of Pharmacy of Southwest University led the technical development of the kit, which can detect antibodies in patients with novel coronavirus within 3-10 minutes. The kit has received an inspection report from the Chongqing Medical Device Quality Inspection Center and has been used to test 80 clinically confirmed patients at the Chongqing Public Health Medical Treatment Center, achieving an accuracy rate of 95%. Applications for the kit are currently under review with relevant authorities. The team has submitted their application through the green channel and is awaiting approval. We hope that it will be readily available to meet public needs.

The test kit requires only minimal operator training and is low-cost, costing only 60-80 yuan per test, making it suitable for large-scale screening. Using only a single drop of blood, the test provides visual results within 3 to 15 minutes. It accurately detects even plasma diluted 500-1000 times. It is particularly suitable for grassroots settings, such as Class II hospitals and township community health centers, where specialized testing equipment is scarce, and for early screening of large populations.

Compared with the RT-PCR nucleic acid test currently used for diagnosis, this kit is simpler and more efficient, with strong detection sensitivity and high specificity; it can effectively solve the current problems in the epidemic area such as the lack of professional and technical personnel and limited laboratory conditions; shorten the waiting time for patients, provide timely treatment, and reduce the workload of designated hospitals for the epidemic; achieve rapid diagnosis of suspected patients and on-site screening of close contacts, promote the forward and downward shift of diagnostic screening, and effectively prevent cross-infection caused by intensive examinations of the general public in large hospitals; quickly divert, block the source of infection, screen out hidden spreaders, and effectively prevent the spread of the epidemic.
