BYD's RV with gull-wing viewing windows will be unveiled at the Chengdu RV Show from September 19th to 21st.

Zhongfang RV, built on the BYD T5DM dedicated chassis, has created a plug-in extended-range hybrid RV – a fusion of mechanics and art, but also a dialogue between wisdom and nature. Leveraging BYD's DM super-hybrid system, an all-aluminum body, and intelligent features, this RV redefines the boundaries of a "mobile home" with a 1,000-kilometer range, all-scenario energy refueling, and user-friendly design. The vehicle features a streamlined design with low wind resistance and a dark gray exterior, exuding a sense of technology in its simplicity. A retractable roof expands the vehicle's space while maintaining stability. Multiple sliding windows and storage compartments are integrated into the sides, balancing both lighting and storage needs. Designated rear racks for motorcycles and bicycles accommodate outdoor gear, highlighting its practicality for all-encompassing travel.

The gull-wing viewing windows on the sides are a highlight: when deployed, they create a 1.2-meter-wide viewing platform. Equipped with mosquito nets and sunshades, they allow ample natural light and create a space for interaction between the inside and outside of the vehicle, allowing for close contact with nature while parked. A powered awning and LED lighting system at the rear instantly transform the vehicle into an outdoor living room for camping. Furthermore, a concealed side expansion panel can be extended to form a kitchen worktop, integrating with the interior kitchen area for enhanced cooking efficiency.

Based on a deeply modified BYD T5DM chassis, the design features a 6.5-ton load-bearing capacity, supporting the increased space and heavy equipment loads. The front double wishbone independent suspension and rear airbag suspension, calibrated by European experts, offer excellent vibration damping. Combined with the BSC braking system, the system maintains stability even on rugged mountain roads. The powertrain features a 1.5T high-efficiency hybrid engine and blade batteries, achieving a thermal efficiency of 41% and a power generation efficiency of 93.2%. Intelligent start-up and power generation in extended-range mode completely eliminate range concerns.

The interior features light wood trim and off-white upholstery, complemented by warm yellow ambient lighting, creating a warm, homey atmosphere. The reception area features a banquette with a lift-up table and gull-wing viewing windows on the side, creating a multi-functional space for viewing, dining, and working. Concealed storage compartments and a fresh air system ensure fresh air throughout the cabin. The entire vehicle is constructed from environmentally friendly E0-grade panels, which are antibacterial and moisture-resistant, ensuring long-term travel and well-being.

The rest area features two 2100mm x 1300mm beds, flanked by sliding windows, offering a glimpse of the mountains in the morning and the stars at night. A closed privacy curtain creates a private, tranquil haven. Under the beds, a north-south storage area boasts 1.2 cubic meters of storage space, easily accommodating luggage, clothing, and outdoor gear. Concealed overhead cabinets and bedside USB charging ports further optimize storage and power access.


The kitchen area is equipped with a Mars Coolpad integrated stove, capable of frying, stir-frying, steaming, and grilling in just 30 minutes. Precise temperature control ensures crispy grilled wings and tender, while steamed fish retains its fresh flavor. A concealed sink and an Indel temperature-controlled dual refrigerator (152L total capacity) complete the "storage-wash-cook" cycle. The door panel can be extended to serve as a food preparation area. Furthermore, a gas connection is provided outside the vehicle for outdoor barbecues, catering to diverse dietary needs.


In addition to the king-size bed in the master bedroom, a lift-up table in the living area can be lowered and combined with a booth to create a temporary bed (1800mm x 1000mm), suitable for children or a single person. All mattresses feature a high-density foam and pocket spring construction, conforming to the body's curves and relieving fatigue from long journeys. Bedside reading lights and USB charging ports facilitate nighttime reading and device charging.

The bathroom features an all-aluminum protective structure that inhibits bacteria and prevents discoloration. The swivel pull-out toilet saves space, and the three-in-one sink and shower are complemented by wood-grain flooring and a stainless steel double floor drain system for efficient water seepage, ensuring dryness even in humid environments. A two-way ventilation fan and heater are integrated into the ceiling to quickly remove odors and moisture, showcasing user-friendly details.


The power system utilizes 55.3kWh blade batteries and 48V440Ah lithium iron phosphate energy storage, supporting a 6000W inverter and 1200W solar panels (rigid panel design, half-cm elevated heat dissipation, and bifacial power generation), allowing simultaneous operation of high-power appliances such as air conditioners and induction cooktops. Heating and cooling are provided by a Mitsubishi 1.5P DC inverter air conditioner. The water system features a 220L fresh water tank and a 70L gray water tank, along with intelligent water pumps and water level sensors for real-time water usage monitoring.
